Volunteer activity in Sapporo
I went to the office of a volunteer organization in Sapporo to register. This organization helps foreign people in many occasions.
I saw many applicants for this organization on that day. The organization was bigger and much more complicated than I thought. It seems that the city authority gets engaged to this organization. I found the name of previous mayor as a chairman of this organization. In this city, the public sector tends to lead the private sector in many aspects and this may be one of them.
Traditionally, Hokkaido has been developed by the public sector mainly and this tendency may be remnant from the pioneer days. That era are not distant ages. Only 150 years ago, this city was just a plain where few people lived.
