Winter life in Sapporo
After Sapporo Citizen Disaster Prevention Center, we went to JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) office and learned about winter life in Sapporo.
It is necessary for people living in Sapporo in winter to know some tips because of its climatic characteristics. In this region, it is cold and snows a lot in winter. One of the most important tips is how to walk on icy roads. If you don’t know about it, you are likely to slip on icy roads and it would cause your injury.
On icy roads, it is necessary to walk with short steps and put larger areas of feet on the ground. The local people can do so from their experiences. I can tell whether pedestrians are locals or not by seeing their walking.
