Hokkaido University
Hokkaido University is a national university in Sapporo. It predecessor, the Sapporo Agricultural College was founded in 1876. The motto of this university is “Boys, be ambitious”. Dr. Clark remarked this phrase when he left.
Since this school invited foreign teachers to introduce western science and technology in the early stages, one of its philosophies is “Global Perspective”. Nowadays, more than 1,500 international students have come to this university from all over the world. Their research areas are quite wide-ranging.
I went to Hokkaido University to join an event of a volunteer a few months ago for the first time. At that time, I was astonished by its largeness. Eventually, I couldn’t reach at the buildings on time after I had asked many people how to go the purpose place many times. As you can see by google maps, it is too large to go from end to end by walking.
