The University of Tokyo
The University of Tokyo is the leading university in Japan. It is usually called “Todai”. The main campus is Hongo campus in Tokyo. The process of undergraduate education in the University of Tokyo is divided into the junior division and senior division. In the junior division, students belong to College of Arts and Sciences to learn fundamental skills. In the senior division, there are 10 faculties which are law, medical, engineering, letters, science, agriculture, economy, arts and sciences, education, and pharmaceutical sciences. It might be interesting for foreign students of Todai to live near Hongo campus because this area is so traditional that it is possible to go to many historical sightseen places from the campus by walking. For example, Armstrong canons were put on the campus of today to bombard Kaneiji temple over Shinobazu pond at Ueno war in 1868.
