Sapporo Citizen Disaster Prevention Center: Experiencing earthquakes
After the attractive fire track, I was taken into a room to experience earthquakes. The room seemed a typical living room. The difference from other rooms was that this room could be shaken by staff from time to time.
We could choose earthquake intensity of this room. Foreign visitors tried intensity 7 which was the maximum of this room while children chose intensity 3 which is the minimum of it. After shaking, we had to turn off all electricity and fire in the room to prevent fire.
The shakiness of intensity 7 seemed milder than I thought. However, staff told us that real earthquakes would be much harsher than these simulations after that. I hoped that we would have no chance to find what she said true.
