Sapporo station
Sapporo station is the busiest terminal station in Hokkaido. This station is connected to suburb stations and major cities in Hokkaido by many lines.
This station has dramatically changed since the new station building was built in the early 2000s. A major redevelopment around this station was conducted at the same time. As a result, the area around Sapporo station has more characteristics as a commercial aria. By the way, Hokkaido University is located in the north area of this station.
Now, the new line of Shinkansen (the bullet train) between Shin-Hakodate and Sapporo station is planned to start operation in 2030. The most controversial matter about it is where to place its platform in Sapporo Station. I hope the new platform of Shinkansen will be constructed somewhere near enough to go by walking from the existing platforms in this Station.
